Nature as Artifice:
New Dutch Landscapes

By Maartje van den Heuvel & Tracy Metz

$80.00
This companion to the Museum's summer 2009 exhibition illustrates how the Netherlands' idyllic landscape has been supplanted by modern technology and high-tech methods of molding nature. The book, like the exhibit, features photographers and video artists who have documented these artificial changes to the Dutch landscape.
Theft at George Eastman House

By Sally Valentine

$9.95

Broken Empire by Gerd Ludwig (signed) $50.00
With 126 photographs by Gerd Ludwig and text by Fen Montaigne, this volume is an informed and informative text that chronicles the abrupt, tumultuous collapse of Soviet communism and the runaway capitalism that rushed into the vacuum it left behind. Bold and thoughtful, powerful and passionate, this is a book that pulses with the spirit of Russia herself. Each copy was personally signed by Ludwig himself during a recent visit to George Eastman House.
George Eastman and the Kodak Camera $7.95
George Eastman and the Kodak Camera recalls this important man and his invention in dramatic, graphic novel format. When George Eastman first learned photography, it was a very complicated and messy process. He experimented with glass plates and coated paper, and soon invented film. Eastman then invented a camera for ordinary people that was easy to use and inexpensive. He called it the Kodak camera. Inside this book, learn about Eastman and his invention of the Kodak camera.
Imagining Paradise $84.95
Exploring the collections of the Richard and Ronay Menschel Library, this book offers a unique look at the unrivaled compilation of photographic history books in the George Eastman House collection. Beautifully illustrated with images from over 250 rare books.
Spot the Differences $7.95
What makes this book of "spot the differences" puzzles so unique? Simply put: the quality of the photographs. Every one of the pictures comes from the acclaimed George Eastman House archive, with some dating back to the 1800s. So they make stunning art as well as absorbing brainteasers. In every case, you'll get two versions of the picture side by side; they'll look almost alike, but one is slightly different from the other. It's up to you to search the images and find the variations. The puzzles come in three levels of difficulty: easy with five differences, medium with six, and hard with seven. The photos encompass historical figures, famous buildings, stunning landscapes, and engaging animals and many are iconic works by renowned photographers. The most famous include "The Migrant Mother" by Dorothea Lange; Lewis W. Hine's "Power House Mechanic" and the amazing portrait of Abraham Lincoln taken by the celebrated Civil War photographer Matthew Brady.
George Eastman: A Biography $39.95
